Thank you, thank you, thank you. As we closed up the Obama Campaign Headquarters here in Linn, Missouri, population 1600, 25% Democrat, we didn't have any idea how the election was going due to no radio or tv reception in the office we had been given gratis. I asked where the election party was going to be held, and, when told no one had any plans, called my husband and said, "I'm bringing some people home with me to watch the elections returns." The party grew from four of us to ten at one point. We watched McCain's very gracious concession speech. Then... Obama's celebratory speech with tears running down our faces (we women, that is).
How I wish we could have been in a crowd like that in Seattle! What joy! What happiness! What a sense of family!
Our joy came from the fact that the Democratic Committee had expected an 18% vote for Obama in Osage County, and we worked our butts off and got a 27% vote for Obama! Hooray for us!
